Phone Friend is built with one goal — to make your phone easier to use. This privacy policy explains clearly and honestly what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights. We have kept it as simple as possible.

Who we are

Phone Friend is an independent app developed in the UK. If you have any questions about this policy, you can contact us at hello@phonefriend.app.

What information we collect

Phone Friend collects very little personal information. Here is exactly what we collect and why:

• Email address — only if you sign up to our waitlist at phonefriend.app or choose to contact us. We use this only to let you know when the app launches or to reply to your message.
• Your phone model — you tell us this when you set up the app so we can show you guides that match your specific phone. This is stored only on your device and never sent to us.
• Progress and quiz scores — stored only on your device using local storage. We do not collect or see your scores.
• AI chat messages — when you use the Ask AI feature, your message is sent to Anthropic's API to generate a response. We do not store or read your chat messages. Please see Anthropic's privacy policy for details.

What we do not collect

We do not collect your name, location, browsing history, contacts, photos or any other personal data. We do not sell any data to third parties. Ever.

Payments

Payments for Phone Friend+ and the Ad-Free upgrade are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store or handle your payment details — Stripe processes everything directly. Please see Stripe's privacy policy for details of how they handle payment data.

Advertising

The free version of Phone Friend may show advertisements provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may use device information and a device advertising ID to show relevant ads. You can opt out of personalised advertising in your device settings. Upgrading to Phone Friend+ or the Ad-Free option removes all advertising permanently. Please see Google's privacy policy for details.

Waitlist emails

If you sign up to the Phone Friend waitlist at phonefriend.app, your email address is stored securely by Formspree and used only to notify you when the app launches. We will not send you marketing emails or share your address with anyone. You can ask to be removed at any time by emailing hello@phonefriend.app.

Children's privacy

Phone Friend is designed for adults. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it immediately.

Data security

Almost all your data stays on your device and never leaves it. Where data is transmitted — such as AI chat messages — it is sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection. We take reasonable steps to protect any information we do hold.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct or delete any personal information we hold about you. Since we hold very little, a simple email to hello@phonefriend.app is all you need.

Third party services

Phone Friend uses the following third party services, each with their own privacy policies:

• Anthropic — powers the AI chat feature
• Stripe — processes payments
• Google AdMob — serves adverts in the free version
• Formspree — manages waitlist signups

Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes to this privacy policy we will update the date at the top of this page. We encourage you to check back occasionally.
